Carole & Minty: Residents

February, 2019

Carole: Lovely, friendly place to be, everyone is helpful and caring. Minty: feels part of a family here. Carole: Lovely food, good choice if you don’t really like eating what is on the menu. I have never been in a home before and as soon as I came here I liked it straight away. Staff are so helpful, they make you feel part of a the family. Minty: it feels like I belong here, which is a lovely feeling. Carole: The grounds and building are lovely; can’t wait till weather gets warmer to sit outside and enjoy the gardens. Don’t want to go anywhere else, it feels like home.

My father was only at Glais for 3 weeks before his death. However, my sister and I are eternally grateful to all the staff for the care they provided in that period which allowed him to pass away peacefully, in no pain and with full dignity. The way they treated us as family was also exemplary. We are really pleased we chose Glais and could not have asked for more.

If you want the best care for your loved one look no further. The quality of care and empathy provided by the manager and the staff is exceptional. Mum only spent six months in the care of Glais but we could not fault the standards and love that was given to her in that time. A huge thank you to all the staff for all the support they gave to mum and the family. Thoroughly recommended without reservation.

Nobody wants to be in a position to put any of their loved ones into care. Due to a nasty fall at home, my mother was put into a local nursing home for her own safety. After a few months, I realised that the home she was in was a mistake. She is now a resident at Glais House Nursing Home. The staff and management are professional and their standards of care are very high. My mother is cared for and treated with dignity. Her room is always neat and tidy. The staff are kind and understanding. It is a pleasure to visit day or night. My mother does experience difficult times, but the staff are always at hand to reassure her. I would highly recommend Glais House Nursing Home to anyone.

Glais House has looked after my mother exceptionally well. I have nothing but praise for the home and quality of staff that work there. The staff seem genuinely fond of my mother, and take a great deal of trouble to make sure she is happy and understands things - she is blind and deaf as well as having dementia so this is not easy. For example, if she wakes frightened in the night after a bad dream or delusion, they will take her to sleep in the lounge on a recliner where there are people around and she feels safe. The staff are friendly, caring and very hard-working. The managers are continually improving the home and care arrangements, for example they are meeting with an RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) project manager to look at improvements for people with sight loss. I am certain my mother is safe and as happy as she can be and has the best care and medical support. Her room, the communal areas and the food are also excellent and well suited to the needs of the residents.
